La Honda Pescadero Outlaws
The word “Outlaw” refers to a person excluded from the benefit or protection of the law. 2a : a lawless person or a fugitive from the law. b : a person or organization under a ban or restriction. c : one that is unconventional or rebellious. For me, as the researcher my intention in going to this project was to research the history of outlaws and ask how they contributed to the local culture.
One example of outlaws in our area were the: Younger brothers hid as lumberjacks For a number of years in the 1860s. They are believed to have built the town First Market by Bob. Cole Younger fled to LA Honda Ray Ranch owned by his cousin off Bear Gulch Road. He came 1 La Honda was at its very beginning La Honda had lots of alcoholism and fights. It was a very violent and Outlaw like acting Town. Lots of younger people died violently. Cole was joined later by his brother. They ended up working for John Sears, the owner of the first hotel and store in La Honda. They had a fighting pit with a bull and a bear fighting each other. Historians are split on whether the younger brother helped build the first door.
In 1876 the James gang contacted the younger brothers in La Honda for one more bank robbery in Northfield Minnesota. All three younger brothers went the robbery turned into a disaster and all three brothers were shot one dying after the other and suicide and one survivalist.
While outlaws may not have been that good of people they probably affected our modern day town and culture. For example, I feel they affected our modern day town and culture by building some of the first and most important buildings in La Honda and helped keep farms up and running which contributed to keeping La Honda alive. Hence our definition of outlaw can have a silver lining in this case.

Para mí, como investigadora, mi intención al ir a este proyecto era investigar la historia de los forajidos y preguntar cómo contribuyeron a la cultura local.
